Strictly Inverness is the hottest ticket in town

The glitzy dance extravaganza, Strictly Inverness, is back and that means the Inverness Ice Centre is the place to be this week.

The sensational four-day dancefloor marathon, which begins on Wednesday May 17, also raises thousands of pounds for local charities - the Inverness Ice Centre and the Highland Hospice.

Strictly Inverness has raised hundreds of thousands of pounds for the two charities in the last seven years.

Last year’s contestants raised a record breaking £136,000 for the two charities before the event had even kicked off.

All the competitors taking part in Strictly are not professional dancers and give up their time to be coached for five months by top instructors.

In addition to learning all of the dance moves, they are tasked with raising as much money for the charities as possible over the five months they are involved in the competition.

The festivities kick off on Wednesday as the launch night showcases some of the very best local dancing talent.  On Thursday and Friday, eight local couples will perform two dances, along with their spectacular group dance, to compete for a place in the Saturday night grand finale when the 2017 winners will be announced.

Each evening is presented by Brian Elrick.

Tickets for the three competition nights are sold out.  Launch night tickets are £15 for adults and £7.50 for children.  For more information contact the Fundraising Team on 01463 246473 or events@highlandhospice.org.uk.
