Thanks to all for contributing to another very successful season of the Highland Open Leagues.

We had a total of 29 teams taking part across the three divisions and it’s testament to you all that out of 126 matches across the season, I’m only aware of one that wasn’t able to be played.

We sadly lost one of our skips, Duncan Clark early in the season and I’m grateful to the players who carried on in his memory – I think it is fitting that the Killearnan team have gone on to win Division 2 and hopefully make Duncan’s family proud.

The full league tables are published on the Ice Centre website, but the headlines are:

Div 1 winners : Belmaduthy 1

Div 2 winners : Killearnan

Div 3 winners : Auldearn 1

As you will all hopefully be aware, the Div 2 and 3 winners are promoted, along with the respective Runners-up, while the bottom two teams in Div 1 and Div 2 move down a league – I always add the caveat that this is dependant on entries for the 2025-26 season. We had so many new teams this season that I had to “un-relegate” a couple of teams at the start to keep the league sizes sensible.

For the 2025-26 season I am already aware of one team who wish to join which would take the numbers up to 30. Theoretically, I can add a further three teams to create three divisions of 11 teams without needing to find more time in the diary to fit in matches, so if you know of any clubs/teams/players that might be interested in joining the league, tell them to get in touch with me and if I get more than 33 teams, I’ll look at creating a fourth division.

I’ll give everyone (and me) a break for now – I’ll be back in touch towards the end of April or early May to sort out entries for next season.
