What originally drew you to serve on this board?
I was asked to join by one of the existing directors, which I took a huge compliment. I believe my organisational, analytical and managerial skills will enhance the board. As a keen curler I want to ensure the longevity and sustainability of Inverness Ice Centre and put our users and workforce at the centre of all developments.
What are the biggest opportunities you see for the centre over the next 3 years?
The next three years present a significant opportunity for Inverness Ice Centre to strengthen its position as a community hub, we can widen access and deliver services that respond directly to Ice Users needs.
Another key opportunity is building the Ice Centreโs reputation and visibility. By clearly demonstrating outcomes, celebrating success stories, and strengthening stakeholder engagement, we can position Inverness Ice Centre to attract new investments.
Workforce and culture development will be critical, investing in staff wellbeing, leadership development, and creating a strong values-driven culture will ensure the Ice Centre remains resilient.
Are there any strategic priorities you feel particularly passionate about?
I am particularly passionate about the Ice Centreโs sustainability โ financially, operationally, and environmentally. Improving efficiency, and embedding sustainable practices into everyday operations are essential to ensuring Inverness Ice Centre can continue to thrive and evolve in a challenging landscape.
Another priority I care deeply about is people and culture. Strong organisations are built on empowered teams, and I believe investing in staff development, collaboration, and wellbeing directly improves both performance and service delivery. Creating a culture where people feel valued, accountable, and inspired is fundamental to achieving any strategic ambition.
Lastly, I am passionate about innovation and continuous improvement. I believe the centre should always be looking for ways to evolve, respond proactively to change, and use insight and evidence to improve outcomes for stakeholders and the wider community.
