Skate UK lessons at Inverness Ice Centre
Skating Lessons
Our July and August lesson schedule is published below.
Tickets will go on sale from 10 am on 1st July, 2026
With the guidance of our experienced award-winning international coaches, you’ll soon be sliding round the ice pad, performing set manoeuvres and building up a record of your achievement as you pass each one of the 8 skill levels.
These lessons will give you all the skills you need to move on to Figure Skating, Ice Hockey, or simply having even more fun
The lessons take place as part of a longer session on the ice, so you can practice on your own either before or after your actual lesson.
Sessions cost £12.00 (or £10.00 if you join the Friends of Inverness Ice Centre scheme) for a half hour lesson.
For that price, you get access to the ice rink for the whole session, use of a pair of ice skates and your 30 minutes coaching at the time set for your current skill level.
Advance booking is strongly recommended – book the ticket appropriate to your current skill level, but remember – you can go on the ice any time during the session to brush up the skills you’ve learned.
We follow the latest SkateUK lesson plan. The best way to record your progress, and see what skills are involved at each level, is to download the SkateUK app – the app is FREE to download levels 1-3; to unlock levels 4-8 there is a small cost of £9.99 per year cost or £1.99 monthly subscription, you can also access the Star programme in Figure, Ice Dance, Pair & Synchronized Skating for a one off fee of £14.99, in fact this app will lead you through the entire pathway from the very start of your journey whilst also offering other cool features. The app can be downloaded from this link : Skate UK (iceskating.org.uk)
We will be running the lessons along similar lines to previous years – you book the half hour lesson that’s right for your current level, but you can stay on the ice before and after your lesson to practice your moves. For 2025/26 the lesson times have been adjusted a little to try and make the sessions as accessible as we can, and also to allow us to try and fit in more lessons – we’ll be offering all SkateUK and SkateStar levels on Saturdays, and Levels 1 to 8 on Sundays.
If you have a Friend membership, then enter the discount code SKATEUKFRIEND before you checkout to get your Friend price, and remember to fill in your Friend membership number. Please note, you should bring your Friend membership card with you and present it when asked. If you don’t do this, you may be charged the difference between Friend and Regular price before being allowed access to the ice pad.
