The Highland Open Leagues will be running again in season 2024-25, and we are now looking for entries to the competition. All skips who had a team in last season’s competition should already have received an email inviting them to submit an entry – if you haven’t, please email david@inverness-ice-centre.co.uk. Any new skips who wish to enter a team can either email david@inverness-ice-centre.co.uk, or go to HOL Entry Form – Inverness Ice Centre (inverness-ice-centre.co.uk) and submit an entry form.

We had our last session of the season on ice tonight and afterwards, the presentation of prizes to our wonderful group of young curlers pictured here with their coaches. We can’t wait to see them again next season!  If you would like to join us, come along  on Tuesday nights 5-6.30pm September until end of March.

Congratulations to our winners of the 2023 Highland Gateway Bonspiel. Mark Hodges, Duncan Forbes (Skip), Natalie Cowan, Senga Dingwall Along with the trophy they went away with a 16yr old Tomintoul which was kindly donated by the manager Robert Nicholson. With the current vegetable shortage in the UK right now we unfortunately ran out off Neeps but proudly showing off their wooden spoons were the not so fortunate Owen, Ann Gibb (skip), Gil Forbes and James Yule.

Area 13 hosted two Bonspiels on Saturday 4th February at Inverness Ice Centre With all sheets fully used during the day both bonspiels went very well with a good atmosphere throughout. Also great to have so many junior curlers competing on good ice along with the new curlers from the Gateway teams.   Results are as follows:- BOOKLESS QUAICH The Hospital team of David Baille, Jenny MacGregor and Derek MacDonald and skipped by Andy Wood were winners of the Bookless with 4 Points, 16 Shots up and 9 Ends. Highland and Moray (Area 13) Curlers took home the Tamnavulin Trophy after a very close match against members of the Royal Caledonian Curling Club Area Standing Committee.  Held this year in Perth, our three teams consisted of players from Sutherland, Ross-shire, Inverness and Moray Provinces and we won all three games.  We look forward to hosting this event next February in Inverness Ice Centre.

Congratulations to Yvonne Birnie’s Highalnd Ladies team who won all their round robin matches in the Henderson Bishop qualifiers. The team will now go forward to represent Inverness Ice Centre in Stranraer in February 2023.

The Highland Open League tables have been updated today with all available results. If you have postponed a match, and not yet re-arranged it, please do so as soon as you can so we don’t run out of time at the end of the season.

We recently contacted as many curling organisers as we could to check that our contact details are up to date, and to start to build our ice diary for the 2022/23 season.
